The Canon AT-1 is a part of the Canon A-series, similar to the AE-1 and A-1. It is essentially an AE-1 with a light meter that's coupled to the aperture and shutter speed. Adjusting either aperture or shutter speed moves a needle in the viewfinder, and the light meter measures the light and displays this on a second needle. When the two needles are aligned, then the settings are correct to make a perfectly exposed photo! It's a very intuitive and easy system, and also a system that helps photographers visualize how ISO, shutter speed, and aperture adjustments will influence the final exposure of a shot. This makes it an excellent choice for people who are interested in learning real photography. 

It's also an easy camera for newcomers to use and to learn - the built in light meter displays in the viewfinder ensure that the proper settings have been made that will result in a correct exposure. The AT-1 is capable of making exceptional photos on account of its use of the FD lens mount, which grants access to all of Canon's professional grade lenses. 

Mechanically this lens and camera pair are perfect, and everything functions as it should. Viewfinder is clean and clear. Film compartment and battery compartment are clean and free of dirt or corrosion. Pressure plate and shutter curtain are in excellent condition. Mirror box is clean, and all knobs, dials, and switches actuate as they should.

The lens is in great shape with clear glass. Filter threads are unmarred, as is the lens mount. The glass elements are perfect, free of fungus, balsam separation, and scratches, and the aperture blades are snappy and oil free. The focus ring and aperture ring actuate as they should.
