This particular camera is in very nice cosmetic condition and it is in perfect mechanical condition. The film compartment, battery compartment, pressure plate, mirror, and mirror box are all clean and in excellent condition. The viewfinder is clean and clear. The shutter is perfect.

The lens mount is pristine. The levers, dials, and knobs all actuate as they should and operate with mechanical precision. The light meter responds correctly, and exposure times are all accurate. The auto-exposure mode works perfectly.

The lens is in excellent condition both mechanically and cosmetically. The aperture ring and focus ring spin with beautiful fluidity. The aperture blades are snappy and free of oil. The glass elements are free of scratches, balsam separation, haze, and fungus. The filter threads and mount are unmarred. 

The Nikon FE is commonly regarded as being among the very best electro-mechanical Nikon SLRs, and many photographers consider it to be among the best Nikon film cameras ever made. It takes the amazing mechanical aspects of the FM, and adds an aperture-priority auto-exposure mode. This means that the photographer can shoot in full manual mode, or elect to only control the aperture of the lens manually and leave the task of calculating a proper exposure in the hands of the camera.
