This is a fantastic and affordable general purpose camera for the amateur shooter or advance photographer. It will do nearly everything the average film photographer could ask of it, and it looks quite handsome at the same time. The camera is in very nice condition. The viewfinder, film compartment, mirror box, shutter, and battery compartment are all very clean and in great shape. All dials, switches and knobs click and actuate exactly as they should. The light meter works perfectly.

The full manual camera has a bright viewfinder. Manual focus and manual shutter speed and aperture controls all help new photographers learn the craft. The bright LED lights next to the viewfinder illuminate to show over-exposure, under-exposure, and proper exposure. Adjust the settings until the green light illuminates, and shoot. Easy enough for a beginner, and yet the full manual control of the parameters of the exposure allow experienced photographers to make the most of their light and subject.

The included lens is rather excellent. It is incredibly sharp. It has a focal length of 50mm, which is a standard focal length. This makes it an ideal setup for almost every kind of general purpose photography, including landscape, snapshots, action, family photos, portraits, architectural shooting, and street photography. The fast maximum aperture makes it a good choice for low light shooting and for portraiture.

The aperture ring clicks as it should, and the focus ring spins fluidly. The mount is pristine, and the filter threads are unmarred. The aperture blades are snappy and oil free, and the glass elements are free of any blemishes, balsam separation, cleaning marks, and fungus.

The lens is a Pentax K mount lens, and so it can be used on any camera with the K mount. The Chinon camera is also, naturally, a K mount camera.
